Tide charts by place
Every page here is built from the harmonic constants that the local NOAA station publishes, and every one of them states how far our arithmetic sits from that station's own predictions. Across the places below the worst average difference is 1.4 minutes. That is the whole claim, and it is the part most tide sites leave out.

The column worth reading first is the range. The same ocean physics produces 1.4 feet of mean range at Sarasota and 6.16 at West Haven, and that difference decides how much a mistimed hour actually costs you.

When a tide table is not the right tool
A tide prediction is astronomy, and the water is weather as well. Wind and barometric pressure move the real level against the printed one, which is why NOAA publishes observed levels alongside its predictions. The numbers here are also each station's water rather than the water some distance away from it: the further you go from the gauge, up a creek or round a point, the later and smaller the same tide arrives. Where the range is small — 1.4 ft at Sarasota — weather moves a larger share of it, and the table is a better guide to timing than to depth.
